Jeffrey D. HoffmanMr. Hoffman, an accomplished entrepreneur and innovator, joined uBid.com in September of 2007 after establishing a long and winning track record in the fields of on-line auction and retail, software, and entertainment.
Prior to joining uBid.com, Mr. Hoffman established himself as a serial entrepreneur, launching several companies and bringing them to profitability. Leveraging his computer science education from Yale University and his early technology start-up experience, Hoffman was a founding partner in Competitive Technologies, Inc (CTI)., which offered online travel reservation tools sold directly to travel agencies and corporations. CTI was ultimately purchased by American Express. Hoffman was also CEO and founding partner of Virtual Shopping, Inc., a leading developer of patented, proprietary online retailing systems, before joining the founding executive team of perhaps his most notable venture, Priceline.com, where Hoffman held two CEO titles in the Priceline family of companies.
For his contributions to the creation of the industry’s first online retailing tools, Hoffman was twice named by the travel and tourism industry as one of its “25 Most Influential Executives”. Hoffman also serves as Chairman of Adapted Sports, a charity organization dedicated to bringing sports and team participation to disabled children nationwide. Mr. Hoffman earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Yale University.
Miguel Martinez, Jr.Mr. Martinez has served as vice president of finance since February 2005. Mr. Martinez brings over 20 years of financial management experience to uBid. Prior to joining uBid, from March of 1999 to November 2004, Mr. Martinez was senior vice president and chief financial officer with Hartford Computer Group, a leading PC manufacturer, distributor and service company.
Mr. Martinez is a certified public accountant and received a BBA degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois and is actively involved in several professional organizations.
Timothy E. TakesueMr. Takesue joined uBid.com in September 1997 as a Vice-President and member of the founding Executive Team. Mr. Takesue today oversees the relationships and liquidation solutions provided to uBid’s Seller Account Base which as of early 2008 numbered approximately 7,000.
Mr. Takesue was an instrumental part of the Executive Team that: launched uBid.com’s website, helped lead uBid in its successful 1998 IPO offered by Merrill Lynch, it’s subsequent successful sale in 2000 to Cmgi, its purchase from Cmgi in 2003 and it’s subsequent reverse merger in late 2005.
During his tenure with uBid, Mr. Takesue has served in various positions, including Vice President of Merchandising and Sales, Executive Vice President-Merchandising, Acting Chief Marketing Officer and Interim CEO.
Mr. Takesue has over 21 years of experience in various capacities involving product sourcing, retail management and marketing, mail order product sourcing, merchandising, direct selling product sourcing, and e-commerce.
Mr. Takesue sits on advisory boards to a number of start-up companies and charities. Mr. Takesue attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan initially as a Merit Scholar recipient.
Glenn WeisbergerMr. Weisberger joined uBid in May of 2008 as Executive Vice President of Business Development. An accomplished lawyer and Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years experience, Mr. Weisberger established a solid track record in both the online and entertainment industry’s complex legal and financial arenas, serving in several Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel roles throughout his career.
Most recently, Mr. Weisberger served as both General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer for SiliconValley-based Navio Systems, Inc. Most notably, Mr. Weisberger served as VicePresident of Legal and Business Affairs for Universal Television and Networks Group /MCA Television Limited, as well as Chief Financial Officer for Harvey Entertainment.
Mr. Weisberger earned his Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration from California State University and his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law.
Amy PowersAs Vice President of Technology, Ms. Powers defines and executes the technology vision for the enterprise in alignment with strategic business objectives. As part of the Executive Management team Ms. Powers has a key role in developing technology partnerships and relationships.
Previously serving as Development Manager for uBid's seller applications, Ms. Powers significantly enhanced the revenue line for the company’s Certified Merchant program and implemented innovative technological solutions to reduce costs.
Prior to joining uBid in 2003, Ms. Powers worked as a consultant in the retail sector focusing on web-based applications, data warehousing and business intelligence. She holds an Applied Information Technology Diploma from Information Technology Institute, Halifax, Nova Scotia and a BS from Dalhousie University.
Bruce HutchisonMr. Hutchison joined uBid in May of 2008 as Vice President of Marketing. A veteran marketer, Mr. Hutchison held senior marketing roles at Midas International Corporation, Thomson Multimedia and D’Arcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles prior to joining uBid.
Most recently, Mr. Hutchison worked with Sears Holdings Corporation’s Kmart business to implement its first-ever customer loyalty program, which used both online and offline data to learn about and better serve their customers through more personal and relevant communications and incentives.
